Find Ancestors

Please could someone with a spare credit look up who was living at 21 Pyrmont Road, Chiswick in 1901? I know my gt grandfather (Tracey Guy Bareham) was living there at the time of his marriage in 1904, but I can't locate him in 1901. This may give some clues. Thanks in advance, Clare

Hi there. Well unfortunately I haven't been able to find a birth for him either, but he should be 19 in 1901. This is one of those classic brick walls! The first record I can find of him is his marriage certificate in 1904 - but he must have existed before that!!

What's his father's name and their occupations? I think he's either not English/Welsh or very badly mis-transcribed!

According to the marriage cert his father was Herbert William Bareham (deceased) - but again there don't seem to be any records for him either, so it's all a bit of a mystery!

I had a look at the BMD index, and there is no record of Trac(e)y Bar(e)ham being born between 1866 and 1920. Not sure where else to look though lol Was he a sailor or anything?

What was Herberts occupation ? Who did Tracey marry in 1904 ?

Yes, he was in the merchant navy, but from August 1901 onwards as far as I know, which wouldn't explain him not being on the census which was earlier in the year, wasn't it?

Sadly I don't know Herbert's occupation, as the only mention I have of him is on Tracey's marriage certificate. Tracey married Nellie Bull.

that's a shame........no mention of the occupation on the MC. Have you found Nellie on 1901 ?

Yes, she was living in Acton with her family, and Tracey is not at that address. No there is no occupation for Herbert as he was supposedly deceased.

...Do you know if your g grandfather had any siblings ? Do the witness on the MC give any clues ? sorry for all the questions.......just trying to help !!

Well... I've had a good 'poke around' in 1901 and can't see him... Have you concidered a scotland conection - just trying to think of any possibles !!

On his discharge papers from the Merchant Navy it said he was born in London - but no birth date sadly! It's so frustrating! Thanks for your help by the way - it's always nice to get fresh eyes looking at something.

Had a quick look on ScotlandsPeople. No sign of a Tracey or Guy Bareham in 1901 However, there is a positive match for a soundex search on Guy Bareham. Unfortunately, I have no credits to see who it is.

I just had a brainwave.... Births Dec 1882 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cooke Tracey Guy Marylebone 1a 578 I think this might be him! Will check census. Can't find him either! lol

Yes - I've seen that birth, and wonder whether it could be him. Tracey Guy must be quite an unusual name combination. I wonder if he was adopted? But who is the mysterious Herbert William Bareham?! Did he exist?! Anyone got a time machine?!!
