If they had 2 daughters with same 1st name, it usually signifies that the 1st one died. |

Strikes me as odd that they would have 2 daughters both called Jane (with no middle names). I think the birth cert is the best thing to get the parent's names. Could be that, because she was raised by George and Ann, she thought they were her parents even if they weren't. Not sure what to do about Mr White though. It's not a very uncommon name lol He could be anyone.... though there aren't any Tim Whites after 1881 lol |

have serious flaw in tree! my grandmother was jennie white ferry b.1895 durham have spent quite some time tracing her and family as could find no birth for a white ferry, however found record for jane ferry (dates match and so does family) her father on her marriage cert to my grandfather is george ferry(1843 durham), however have since been told by family member that jennies mother was a maid for timothy white (the chemist) and had 2 children by him! (was paid money to set up a shop!!) anyway this doesnt add up as on all census jennies mother is ann(b.1846 durham) and her age when jennie was born would have been around 50! (always thought was odd) anyhow have now been informed from recently discovered family member that jennie had a half sister called martha shanks.... her elder 'sister' frances (b 1875 durham) married a william shanks in 1897 and had martha, maggie and richard.... have ordered the birth cert for jennie and am awaiting with baited breath to see if true parents are listed, as on all census she is down as daughter of george and ann. anyway now i need to find timothy white...... this is where you guys come in! i have no idea where to start as i have no idea of age etc, all i know was that he was poss head of a household that had maids in durham! IF ANYONE THINKS THEY CAN HELP...... PLEASE DO SO! thanks jenny! |
