Thanks for all this help. I'll try and explain a bit of family background and you'll see it all ties in with this new info - My gt gt grandmother was Martha Bye born Highworth, she had a son George (my Gt Grandfather) but birth cert doesn't show father. She then married a Cornelius Bathe but we've noway of knowing if he was George's father. George later married and had a son Frederick (my Grandfather). Frederick married Louisa Norton. Louisa was John Kruse's grandaughter from his first marriage to Eliza Knubell. Hope this is correct as I'm typing it from memory, havn't got all my papers out. It's all very confusing as the families seem to have maried into each other twice!!

If anyone has the time I'd really appreciate a look up on the 1871 census for John H Kruse born Germany in abt 1845. he would be in London probably West Ham or whitechapel. In 1871 he maybe with his wife Eliza. Sorry if this is too vague for anyone to go on, but I thought it may be worth a try. Thank you Julie
