Did John and / or Mary marry again after 1837? If so their father's name should be shown on the later marriage certificate. I managed to define the correct Jane JONES by this method and cross checking with census and parish records. Still haven't sorted out MY Davies though, lol. Gwyn |

poulton cum seacombe was wirral/wallasey area so it may well be the right mary. i just find it so difficult that its unable to be proven once you get before 1837. really its a case of finding out as much as you can and hoping youve got the right ones! thanx georgina carolexx |

On the 1841 census the family are in Wallasey & where it says born in the same county Mary has got a Y for yes, this might be grasping at straws as in 1851 she gives her place of birth as Seacombe (sorry my geography isnt very good) but there is a birth for a Mary Davies in Wallasey.... Mary <Davies> Female Event(s): Birth: Christening: 24 MAR 1805 Wallasey, Cheshire, England Death: Burial: Parents: Father: John Davies Mother: Mary Georgina. |

Carole I think you have a mountain to climb finding Mary's birth, there are 33 Mary Davies born in Cheshire between 1805-1809 & those are only the ones that were listed I would bet there was many more not on the IGI. Georgina. |

Carole marriage entries before 1837 dont usually contain parents names but I would have thought if Mary was under age then at least 1 of her parents would have needed to give permission for the marriage. Have you discounted this birth for John? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JOHN KAY Male Event(s): Birth: 25 FEB 1802 Christening: 21 MAR 1802 Saint Peter, Liverpool, Lancashire, England Death: Burial: Parents: Father: JOHN KAY Mother: MARY Georgina. |

its only circa 1809 but thats the year given on all census. i have elizabeths birth cert and its definately the right mothers name, fathers name and area. they seem to come from around liverpool/wallasay/wirrel/birkenhead. i thought she seemed young but just cant find another date of birth for her! btw she signed her mark x on cert so obviously couldnt read or right so i dont know if this makes a difference when they were recording ages? carolexx |

Carole if Mary was born in 1809 & married in 1824 she would have only been 15? I know it's not impossible but are you sure of her birth? Georgina. |

ok heres what i now have john kay c1804 mrried mary davies c1809 at st johns old haymarket liverpool 1824. witnesses were ann davies -maybe relation? and thomas owens. i need to find john kay baptism-to get his parents and mary davies baptism to find her parents. i found a marriage between john kay and alice aspden 4 sept 1802 at st bartholomews turton but am i right in thinking this area is too far for it to be johns parents? also wondering if witness ann davies couldve been sister or mother to mary??? got a headache from these brick walls again lol many thanx carolexx |
