1901 says he is born in Thanet. How do you get from John>Jack> John Raymond Baird?

Reg Thanks for your help. Is there anywhere I haven't tried or am I missing something? Sara

No, I think they were only known as Robinson as their mother, Alice Eva is listed as 'wife' of Edgar Baily Robinson on 1901 census,at the Mill House, Elstead, Surrey, just up the road from where the boys are visiting the farm in Thursley. Alice and Edgar had a daughter, Alice Mary Baily Robinson born 1894 (have her birth cert) but I can find no marriage for them, only a marriage for Edgar in 1902, The Strand and thats not to Alice! 1903 information (from school Alan Baird Handyside went to) was whereabouts of mother unknown and father dead (can't find his death either - William London Busch Handyside) Haven't looked under Baird as a surname. All three brothers returned to the surname Handyside with Alan being adopted between 1903 and 1908 by Cullerne family.

1881 and 1901 census Marriage entry (not ordered certificate yet though) NA but medal card I initially viewed was for wrong J R Handyside. Have birth cert for Alan B Handyside, marriage and death known. Marriage and death known for William Norman Baird Handyside (1984, New South Wales) Think John possibly when to Oz aswell, but want to order birth cert! Have I missed something?

Seem to be unable to find a birth for John Raymond Baird Handyside He's listed on 1881 census as Jack R Handyside born abt 1891 Dachet, Buckinghamshire 1901 aged 11 under Jack R Robinson (its a long story...!) Marriage 1913 Camberwell, to Ethel Brittan Temporary Lieut Royal Army Service, medal card. Ref: WO 372/8 So, why can't I find the birth?! Think its in 1889/90, parents were Alice Eva Macmichael and William London Busch Handyside. Am I missing the obvious or simply going mad.................
