Find Ancestors

Dear all I wondered if any of you have your thinking caps on and fancy helping me... I am interested in the family of Kate Elizabeth Roberts born 1859 in Boston, Lincs, and found the following in the 1881: Head Mary Ann Tebbs aged 71 widowed Boston, Lincs Son Charles Tebbs 34, unmarried, Peterborough Northants Dau Elizabeth Evans Tebbs 37 unmarried, Fletton Hunts Granddau Kate Elizabeth Roberts 22 unmarried Boston, Lincs Grandson Fred. John Roberts 19 unmarried Reading Berks Son William Roberts 16 Grantham Lincs Son Ferndon Manning Roberts 13 Peterborough Northants (I have looked up 'Ferndon' and found that it should be 'Farndon' and that he died in 1898) But anyway, what is going on here? I can find no recorded marriage for a Tebbs marrying a Roberts to account for the surnames in this household. Am I to believe that Mary had children well into her 50s? I suspect that the two youngest are in fact Mary's grandchildren. Could someone please check the image in order to see if it has been transcribed properly or find them on the 1871 so I know if all the Roberts are siblings? The mind boggles! Thanks very much, Anna

I can't find the marriage of any Henson Tebbs marrying a Roberts, so I assume that the grandmother is a Tebbs by a second marriage, and that her children are half-siblings to Henson.

Just found that in 1857 Thomas Roberts married Henson Kirby, so I suppose that is it.

I think we have cracked it- I've just found an IGI file with the christening of Henson Kirby in 1835, the mother was a Mary Ann. I can't yet find a reference for Mary Ann's second marriage, but it may not yet me transcribed. Thanks very much!

Although this is not the right name, I wonder if the original was difficult to read....and could be KIRBY The surname does have tall and short letters in the right places.
