Yes I know it does not actually say the child is hers I was just assuming. Nothing seems to work out with this family. I might not get anywhere until 1911 census comes to view !!!! only fault with this is my friend is 78 years old now and not in great health and even though her mother is still alive my friend may not still be around when the census come to view. Thanks for trying to help Christine

Hi Christine It doesn't actually say if the child is hers. It is just listed as a visitor at the house like she is. The child was born in Hucknall Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire if that's any help. Minnie's marital status has been written as S for single and then gone over the top with an M for married......great help! lol I've gone through every permutation of the name you gave us and not come up with anything more solid I'm afraid.

Sorry to everyone for not being on sooner but had visitors. Deborah that 1901 census is a possibility but I would have liked to see Miriam on it. Jeanette that 1901 could be as well but I am concerned that there is a baby. I know she did not have any children before she was married and I am assuming Evyline is her child!!!!! Christine

Hi Christine, I am looking on the 1891, but so far cannot find this family!!! Will check again. Regards Vera

Christine

Christine Report 21 Nov 2006 17:09

That 1881 census is possible but I have never found Miriam on a census with William as her Father so it would be interesting if I could find this family on 1891 to see if Miriam is with them. I do know that Miriam used to travel to Ireland a lot supposedley to visit family. Christine

Hi Christine What are the names of the witnesses on the marriage cert? They could turn out to be family members

Christine

Christine Report 21 Nov 2006 16:28

I am doing this for a friend and we had thought we had found her Grandmother but we have since found we were following the wrong family So now we are trying to follow a line that we thought was rumour in that the family came from Ireland. We know very little about the family but I will tell you what we know. Miriam Liley c1881 She was married in Rotherham South Yorkshire in December 1903 to Henry Kendall c1880 born Rotherham South Yorkshire. Miriam's Father was according to marriage certificate was William Liley, occupation Coal Miner and was down as deceased on the certificate. I know it is not much information but hoping for a response. Christine
