So what is that census entry - is it the correct people in 1891? Giving him as what 1 month old? Who is the other kiddie shown as 2 months?

Looks like he was using a nickname?? These are the only births for that period for Handysides. Alan Baird looks like the best bet? I still cant understand how they had kids only one month apart???? They could be in Scotland in 1901 I guess. Not sure where John would be.

Viewing the image for 1891, I would say the ages were 2 and a half and 1 and a half.

The Handy Report 28 Nov 2006 20:49

Alan Baird would be a good bet because he was born in 1892 but alas another brother, the youngest and last one and my Great Grandfather!!!

Sarah, Do you kmow his mother's maiden name?

The Handy

The Handy Report 28 Nov 2006 20:57

Think the census states place of birth as Datchet, Buckinghamshire? Mothers maiden name Macmichael born Hobart, Tasmania.

The Handy

The Handy Report 28 Nov 2006 21:03

just had a thought, William London Busch Handyside is a widower on his marriage to Alice Eva Macmichael.(1887) 1881 census married(?) to Adelaide Handyside. Do you think Adelaide could be Jack's mother? died in childbirth perhaps? Or am I letting my imagination run riot?!!

The Handy

The Handy Report 28 Nov 2006 22:13

Found William and Adelaide Isabella (Smith) marriage on SP - Glasgow 1878. Still doesn't fit in with or help find Jack / John's birth though!

Hi, I've changed my name! The age on John Raymond Baird Handyside's marriage cert is 27, that is in 1913, so would make him born in 1886??? Still can't find him .... have even tried Smith as maiden name of first wife and Raymond in case that was his real Dad ??? Its not making any sense .....
