I think George might have beeen at sea at the time of the census as he was a Marine Engineer. Thanks Vera and K :-))) Now i've got to find George and Amelia in all the earlier censuses...Yikes !!

Vera and K thank you very much. I know that George died in 1892. Georges wife was called Amelia sometimes spelt Emilia and there was rumours that she ran a boarding house in 1901, i have still to explore that theory. Its sad that the kids ended up in an orphanage after their dad died, but why would their mother put them there...she was still alive in 1901. A big thank you anyway, you help was really appreciated. I'm searching for a George Foster Lee aged about 66 and he was born in Hull , his wife aged about 38 born in Liverpool and their 4 children George born 1877,Ann Amelia born 1878, William Frank born 1879 and Charles Robert born 1880...all born in Hull.
