I suppose this one is also possible but would mean quite a gap to the birth. If Walter was 64 in 1959, these are two possibles in 1901 census in Durham. 1901 England Census about Walter Foster Name: Walter Foster Age: 5 Estimated birth year: abt 1896 Relation: Son Father's name: Henry Mother's name: Caroline Gender: Male Where born: Willington, Durham, England Civil parish: Willington Ecclesiastical parish: St Stephen Town: Willington County/Island: Durham Country: England Street address: Occupation: Condition as to marriage: Education: Employment status: View image Registration district: Durham Sub-registration district: St Oswald ED, institution, or vessel: 55 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 171 Household Members: Name Age Caroline Foster 40 Fred Foster 12 Henry Foster 42 Henry Foster 1 John Foster 20 Lily Foster 3 Reuben Foster 9 Robert Foster 18 Thomas Foster 14 Walter Foster 5 Source Citation: Class: RG13; Piece: 4681; Folio: 124; Page: 30. or 1901 England Census about Walter Foster Name: Walter Foster Age: 7 Estimated birth year: abt 1894 Relation: Son Father's name: William Mother's name: Emma Gender: Male Where born: Fir Tree Harperley, Durham, England Civil parish: Witton Le Wear Ecclesiastical parish: Witton le Wear St Phillip and St James Town: Witton Le Wear County/Island: Durham Country: England Street address: Occupation: Condition as to marriage: Education: Employment status: View image Registration district: Auckland Sub-registration district: Hamsterley ED, institution, or vessel: 23 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 25 Household Members: Name Age Arthur Foster 10 Emma Foster 31 Mary E Foster 4 Norah Foster 2 Thomas Foster 9 Walter Foster 7 William Foster 33 Source Citation: Class: RG13; Piece: 4654; Folio: 167; Page: 5. Jim The Ferret Report 1 Jan 2007 21:03

There is a Walter Foster who died in 1959. Q3. Reg is Durham S E 1a 492. Age is given as 64 which would make him 27 years older than Kathleen. Is this likely? Jim

Jim The Ferret Report 1 Jan 2007 20:48

Hi Karen. Have been looking for his death to get age. But no luck. Are you sure he is FORSTER and not FOSTER. 1945 Q4 wedding shows Foster. Ref is Darlington 10a 65. If he is Foster - that's why I did not find his death. Without a certificate, it is always going to be hard work. If you get a copy of the marriage certificate using the reference, it will give ages at time of marriage and father's names. Once you have Kathleen's father's name, you can look for somebody with that name marrying a Miss Wood at around the right time and place. You could try guess work but it is not always reliable. Jim
