Hi all Seeing as I have had so much help from you folks I thought it only right that I try and do the same for you. I am willing to do any Cremations or burials that I can be of assisstance with Brisbane burials can be found on www.brisbane.qld.gov.au then follow links to do a search. or tell me details and I can look up for you. With cremations I have to ring the cremetoriums individually unless you know which one they were cremated at even if ashes are scattered or taken by relatives there is still a record held at the cremetorium that they went to.......so give me as much info as possible and I will help where I can. Also if they are at the Mt Thompson or Mt Gravatt Cremetoriums I can go and take a pic of the placque if you wish and email to you thanks again to all who have helped me Jackie

Hi Jacqueline Thanks for the offer. I am looking for the burial or cremation of my Gr Grandfather's burial. Augustus Vincent Taylor and wife Frances. In 1955 he was living 'Riverdale' McConnell St, Griffith, Bulimba and he died 14 Feb 1958. I believe he had a cordial factory. I cant find a burial for them. His son David Alexander Taylor (adopted) and wife were buried in the Hemmant Cemetary - Lawn - Portion 11 - Grave Number 1651. Is this far from you. I live in NZ and have no idea where it is. Would also like to find out if David had any children. Thanks Zena

hi Zena ok yes Augustus was cremated at the Mt Thompson Cremetorium in Holland Park Brisbane on the 14th Feb 1958. his ashes were scattered. I can not find anything out about Francis unless you can at least give me a year in which she died as they do not give out that info without it and also they go back to 1934 so the search would be huge. if you wanted to find out about your other relative and if he had children i would suggest that you apply for his death certificate if he died first or his wifes if he didn't. on the death certificate it will have who did the arrangements for the burial. you can not order on line from Queensland bdm (we are backward lol ) but if you go to this site you may be able to find out how to get order forms and suchwww.justice.qld.au/bdm/ hope this is of help to you and let me know how you get on and also if you have francis' year of death i will give it another go for you. I live in Brisbane so no problems jackie

Hello Jacqueline Many thanks for the quick reply. Frances was still alive in 1955. When Augustus die in 1958 he would have been 74 yrs. I will do a bit more digging on Frances and get back to you. I would like a photo of the plague if there is one. Thanks again Zena

Hi Jackie, thank you for your kind offer. Could you please look up for my great grandfather, George Baker? He died between 1950s and 1960s. He does not have a middle name. He was born in 1892. He was separated his wife (my great grandmother) during WW2 from Perth and he moved to Brisbane to join his sister. I have been looking for him for years. Regards, Steven from Melbourne.

Hi Steven I will ring the crematoriums tomorrow to try to find out if he was cremated anywhere here...but without a year this may be hard to find out. Another suggestion I have is maybe get his sisters death certificate and then try to find some living relatives that may have some info for you or apply for his death certificate (you will have to download a form and then post it to brisbane) the website to get the form is www.justice.qld.gov.au/bdm/. Who ever arranged George's sisters death will be named on the death certificate along with an address. hopefully her hubby died before her and she had a son who did the arrangements......then you can look up the whitepages and see if they still live at the same place.....this is how i found my second cousin. Let me know if i can be further help to you and hope that these suggestions put you in the right direction Jackie

Hi Jackie, thanks for that. Yes, I have his sister's death certificate. It was by her only one child. Unfortunately, her child, Ellen did not have any children. She was married twice. She died in 2002. They were buried at Hammant cemetery. George's wife was a widow before her death in 1965. So it could be before 1965. My late grandmother said that he was buried in Brisbane. She told me that he was drown in a river while he was drunk. I don’t know if it is true or not. That is very difficult for me to find out more about him. Regards, Steven.

Hi again Steven Ok I will see what I can find out tomorrow from the crematoriums but if he was drunk and drowned in the river then maybe he was homeless and possibly a paupers grave which are not listed with names as most of them were vagrants and had no fixed abode. the other option i have is to go to the State Library and see if there was an article in the paper on him......or an announcement.....I will try my hardest for you Jackie

Jacqueline Report 10 Jan 2007 06:40

Steven I just had another thought have a look on the death certificate and it should say how many years she was married to him and then you may be able to work out a more refined time of his death Jackie

Stevendeg Report 10 Jan 2007 07:33

Jackie, Yes, you are right that it was paupers grave. I remember my grandmother told me about it. I have just checked my great grandmother's death certificate that her date of marriage was unknown. But I know that they were married in 1915 at Woolwich that I have a copy of their marriage certificate. Thanks for your time. Steven.

Jacqueline Report 10 Jan 2007 07:52

Hi Steven If it was indeed a paupers grave then they do not name them and there are usually several people buried in the one plot one on top of each other. I will ring the cemetries saxton's office tomorrow but I am sad to say I don't like your chances of finding his grave as I said before the only other option I have is to go to the State Library and see if there was mention of his death in the papers I probably won't be able to get there for a week or so but will let you know if I find anything for you Jackie

hi all nudge

Stevendeg Report 11 Jan 2007 22:13

Hi Jackie, I did not know about paupers grave information. I am sad, too. I understand about it now. So I need to know where he was buried. I would not like to know if he was buried with strangers. Will they have records of paupers graves in the State Library? Regards, Steven.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 11 Jan 2007 22:53

Hi Steve I have just rung the council and even if they are paupers there is still record of death. First of all did he marry again if so this may be him Sex Burial Date Age Baker George Arthur M 24 / 07 / 1956 64 years Baker Johanna Florence F 01 / 10 / 1975 85 years I know this one has a middle name but I have found that sometimes they put middle names on documents and sometimes not. My great grandfather married as Walter Davis but on his death certificate and he was Walter Drummond Davis ..........let me know what you think and if this is him he was not buried as a pauper but the Repats buried him as he must have been a return service man Hopeing this is him for you and if you wish I can go and take a photo of the headstone or plot as it is old there may have been some damage over the years. The cemetry is pretty old now Hear from you soon Jackie
