Yes Anne, l had already found those and if you know anything about the area this is an adjacent place, thats why l was hoping to find him with his wife Bessie somewhere on the 1901 to then try and back track from there, with her age or a few children things usually become a bit easier, Lynne

Thanks for everyones help and suggestions. The newspaper article is about a funeral card found at the local tip. This read in Loving Memory of Eddie Master Mariner SS Kinross beloved husband of Bessie of Blankenese Newquay, who died of fever on voyage from Calcutta to Freemantle Australia Jan 23rd 1917 aged 51. The card was passed on to a very well know local fisherman from Newquay called Phill Trebilcock whos asking for any info anyone can help him with and being a bit obbsessed with family history l thought l would have a go! I am confused as to why spouses name is given as Mary, remember Bessie is Eddies wife, or is Mary Carne Bessies mother? is there an address? certainly St Columb Minor is right area, this is now part of Newquay but would have been a separte village then, thanks for all the suggestions!

Just had a look at the original 1901 census and Bessie Trevilcock and Mary Carne are not living together. They're just neighbours. Mary Carne lives at No. 6 Acland Terr. and Bessie is at No. 7. Bessie is living alone even though her relationship is wife. Margaret

I would say that the marriage of Edwin & Bessie that Cheryl found is correct. The 1891 census shows Bessie Chegwidden living with her widowed mother, Eliza at 9 Acland Terrace, Newquay. Mother is a lodging house keeper. Perhaps Eddie lived there when in port. Mary Carne is still at No. 6. Margaret
