As he was born and died between censuses, you can't find him on a census. You would need his birth certificate to get his mothers name in order to be sure of the correct family on the 1891 or 1901 census. Sam x

Hello Jean I have found a birth for a John Pearson in Carlisle in the June qtr of 1895. The Ref is 10b 830 if you want to send away for a birth certificate. Nana

Jean, if you are sure his father is Thomas then the one who has already been found in Wigton looks possible. Take care with the birth district though! If he was born in Wigton I think it is a separate district to Carlisle. Anne

Jean As you don't have his birth cert, how do you know he was born in Carlisle? Do you have any evidence from other sources? Reg

Jean, Wigton is only about 10 miles from Carlisle. Its not far but it definately different if you are looking for a birth! I think its entirely possible that he moved to Carlisle and spent the rest of his life 'in town' even though he was born in Wigton. I see they lived in Water Street, Wigton. I park there whenever I go to Wigton!!! Anne

Thanks Ann ,I,ll give it a try and see if I,ve got the right one.If I could trace him to 1917 i,d know 100% if he were the right one.

Jean Report 15 Feb 2007 22:11

Hi Reg Cant be 100% he was born Carlisle but the lady he married was from Carlisle and so too was her family and all thier entire lives from marriage seems to centre on Carlisle,my cousin says shes almost certain he was born there but there are alotof Pearson in that area. His marriage cert states his father as Thomas but dont know mother which makes it hard to find right one,

I`ve just realised that if John died in 1945 age 53 then he must have been born 1891/92. I have found a John born in Carlisle, Dec qtr 1891 Ref 10b 503 and a John George born Sept qtr 1891 Ref 10b530. Nana

Hi Nana I must be going brain dead, good spotting,Do you think he could of put in his middle name later on and left it off his birth cert? Is there a birth for a John Edward Pearson for them years? Regards Jean

There are 4 John Edwards in 1891/92 but they were all born in the Midlands. I hope the 3 census pages that Malcolm sent you were useful because I can`t find a 10yr old John Pearson in 1901 and thats how old he would have been. Nana
