Hi, the death is recorded Q1 J/F/M 1973, b Ap 1878, Brent 5a 947. Is it possible he was only visiting the area and his body was taken home?

Georgina

Georgina Report 28 Mar 2007 23:40

Carol I would order the death certificate from the GRO using the reference number Keith has posted above and see what the certificate says, it should give you his address so you will know if he was living in the area. The local Brent office wont recognise the GRO number they use a different system at local offices. Georgina.

Hi Georgina an Kieth I received the death cert last week and he died in a hospital in willesden and it was demolished and is now a reserviour can you believe that , his son registered him he is also William Henry Bacon and lives in yarmouth having done so all his life as william senior was born there but william senior left his wife around 1930 and moved to willesden so william junior was born before 1930 which would make him probably in his 80s if he is still alive , am off to bed now but will return 2moro thankk you both so much for your help Best wishes Carol

Carol, Perhaps his son took the body back to Yarmouth? He lived well into his 90s so perhaps he outlived the woman he left his wife for. Rose

Hi Carol, Do you have a date of birth for Iris? I don't see a death for Vivian since 1984 or see him on the electoral register. It's possible he died and Iris remarried. There's this death for an Iris Beatrice born 1931: Name: Iris Beatrice Poole Birth Date: 4 Sep 1931 Death Registration Month/Year: Aug 1987 Age at death (estimated): 55 Registration district: Camberwell Inferred County: London Volume: 11 Page: 1241 Perhaps your grandmother was a civilian casualty in the war. Have you tried the Commonwealth War Graves Site? Rose

Carol, So you know where in Kent she died? I can usually get addresses off 192 by guessing the first 2 letters of the postcode. I haven't been successful in this case despite there only being a few combinations for Kent -BR, CT, DA, ME and TN. Rose

Hi Rose my gran Annie Gellatly stewart or mills or Bacon is the one who died in kent but i do not know where, only that she died between 1939 and 1944 i have searched for her death in all three names but nothing , i just had a look on the cwg site but nothing thats why i thought i might find out something through her partener william Bacon (senior) and his first wife i will have to send for irises death cert (poole)to establish if this is her , in order to eliminate Iris Godfrey in kent what a muddle i keep forgetting who married who. Carol, What about searching for children of Iris and Vivian? I'm worried that death cert might not be correct. What leads you to believe Annie died during the war? Rose

Hi Rose I have a letter from Annies sister in law to Annies brother dated 1949 and talking about Annies death and that she died had died in kent just before her 2 yr old neice so i asked someone who could do scottish records and the child died in june 1944 in aberdeen and i have a photo of Annie and william and daughter iris who was about 9 in the photo also the tree of them were standing outside there house and they had blackout curtains up at the window , now if iris was 9ish photo would be 1940 so she was dead before 1944after many yrs of searching i found Annies brothers daughter on the internet who came over from scotland especially to give me the photo of my gran and to meet us but she knows less than me and the brother is dead so we just cant move on with this until now that we have a few more options thanks to you and my mum saw the photo of her mother as she was only 6 when annie left my grandad and my mum died last year so she saw it just in time Carol
