Hi, Just found the birth of Walter Bennett 1934 2nd quarter in Barton I; mother's maiden name Barrow. I know that Joan was older than Walter, so she must have been born between 1928 and 1933. Regards Rachel

I looked for both, but it should really be Barrow as that is still her maiden name. Kath. x

Kath, Just thought, Winifred could use either Barrow or McLachlan as her maiden name now that she has married again to Walter Bennett. Regards Rachel

Can't find a Joan Bennett birth with mother's maiden name Barrow between the time of the marriage and the end of 1936. Have to leave it now as I haven't had tea yet. Good luck. Kath. x

Hi, Thanks for that. The marriage does look as though its the one - its not surprising that she remarried quickly - she had 2 young children. So it looks as though we could be looking for a Joan Bennet born in the Manchester/Barton area. Regards Rachel

It looks like this might be her (she didn't hang around):- Winifred McLachlan, spouse Walter Bennett Sept. qtr. 1933, Manchester S., 8d, 496 So you could be looking for a birth for Joan Bennett?? Kath. x

I've looked at marriages for 1934, 1935 and 1936 and can't find one for a Winifred McLachlan. Kath. x

Yes, it is possible that the mother re-married; but I don't know when or to who. As far as I know, the family stayed around the Barton/Manchester area. Regards Rachel

I've gone as far as the end of 1938. If her father died in 1933, could her mother have married again and so Joan had a different surname? Kath. x

Hi, Her parents married in Barton I in 1920. The eldest child is Eric b1924, then Marjorie b1928. I know that Joan was the youngest but thought that she was born before 1933 as her father William McLachlan died in January 1933; but I could be wrong. Regards Rachel

I've gone as far as the end of 1936 and there isn't a Joan McLachlan, mmn Barrow registered with that spelling between the dates you give. Could she be older or younger? Kath. x

Hello, I have been looking to find a birth on Ancestry, but have not had any joy. The birth I am looking for is Joan McLachlan born between 1928-1936. Mother's maiden name is Barrow. The other children's births took place in Barton I. Lancs. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Rachel
