Find Ancestors

Hi Everyone Well what can I say?! A big thank you to all of you for all the help and leads that you have given me. I can't believe how many people out there have been kind enough to give me the information and advice and guidance that they have. The information that I have now, has certainly given me more insight into my past than I first had when I started out on my quest to find my past. Looking at some of my ancestors occupations, certainly explains why I like being outside with nature and the countryside so much.Not sure that I like the idea of having a mole catcher in the family though!! My children have started to take an interest in finding out names and occupations of some of their ancestors which is very nice for me. Mind you without all of you I would not have known where to start with all of this so once again A BIG THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART TO ALL OF YOU!! Would like to send a special thank you to Keith and Gail for all their patience and for giving me the confidence to take things further and for showing me that I do have a past and that there are kind people out there who are willing to help total strangers. Just a quick up date for you all, I am now in contact with a cousin (how many times removed I have yet to work out) who lives in Canada and another relative who's link with me we are still working on. Hi NIcola, the imformation that has been posted has all been found on Ancestry (or possibly findmypast), those of us that have subscriptions to these sites are willing to do look ups for you. To progress you need to order the marriage certificate to prove the fathers names and occuptions. If you were to order the birth certs for Eliza and Henry, they would have both parents names including mothers maiden names. And then we could start again with earlier census looking for them, To order the certificates go to this site, its the GRO http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ If you tick GRO code know and enter the type of event, registration district of the event, the year and quarter, name and Volume (the First number and letter) and page number (the second group of three numbers) Certificates cost £7 each and take about 14 days to arrive. Its a case of proving what you surmise by certificates, and then moving on.

PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME?! I would be very grateful if anyone is able to do a look up for me. Only information I have is that my dad Leonard Thomas Skinner was born on 19th September 1909 to Henry Richard and Eliza Maria (nee Still) Skinner. That is all I know other than on dads brith certificate it says that Henry (My grandad) was a Wagoner on a Farm and that they lived at Hedge Place Farm Cottages in Stone at the time. I would like to try and find out when they got married and when they were both born if anyone can help with that I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL Thanky You Nicky Potts
