OC, This thread is to do with me trying to figure out how to use the LDS website. My other thread is to do with trying to figure out some of my ancestors (Peart/Heart/Seymour). I apologise by using the same ancestors on both threads; however, I am just trying to piece together the jigsaw using whatever sources are available. Regards Rachel

Rachel the website has a catalogue - check there. Family History Centres are staffed by volunteers who are EXTREMELY helpful. In Oz it only costs $5 to hire film; about £2. You have to use them on site but they hold them for about a month. Hope this helps, Ozi.

Just had a look on the LDS website, and I agree, whilst there is a fee, it doesn't seem to be much. Now just need to think about what to order.... Regards Rachel

If you look on the LDS site it will tell you about ordering stuff to view locally - they do make a charge but I dont think its a lot. Good luck.

Thank you for your replies. It does seem strange that the 2 girls were christened on the same day - but although they weren't twins, maybe they were ill and not expected to survive. I didn't know that I could order the parish records and view them at my LDS centre. Is there a charge for this? How do I go about arranging it? Is it only parish records that can be ordered or can anything else be ordered that is held in the local office be ordered? Re:Lilian. I know she existed - she is on the 1901 census and there is a record of her death in 1917 - as her brother William was sent home from WW1 as Lilian was very ill. Still not sure about William Seymour and Florence - as far as I can make out, they never married; yet its strange that the boys have the surname of Seymour; and the girls have the surname of Peart.... Regards Rachel

Andrea There is certainly more than one family of Pearts, with children of very similar names, so they are possibly related further back. Perhaps Beatrice was born in Scotland but registered in Lancashire. You can do this by declaration I think - or maybe they just lied! Or, maybe the transcriber transposed information about someone else in the register. OC

There is this Name: Beatrice Peart Year of Registration: 1892 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: West Derby County: Lancashire Volume: 8b Page: 531 could there be two Beatrice Pearts?

Had a quick look at the LDS - Emma, Florence and Beatrice appear to be correct - the information is extracted, and it looks like Beatrice WAS born in Scotland, unless the transcriber made a mistake. (Were Emma and Florence twins? Baptised same day) As Beatrice was born in Scotland, then she should be registered there. Lilian though, only appears as a submitted record and I would treat this with caution, unless you have her on a census. OC

Rachel You can order the parish registers and view them at your nearest LDS family history centre - see the website for your local one. I use this method all the time as I too am hundreds of miles from my area of research. ............. Although the marriages I showed above are probably not yours, it does show that there was more than one Florence Moody (well, I hope so). (I also spotted an Eveline Peart birth, but not till 1901, I think - but interesting choice of names?) She may have called herself Seymour on her remarriage to appear respectable to her new husband! Hi Margaret, I think you are right, the information regarding Beatrice's birth is IGI has birth as 19 SEP 1892 Guthrie, Angus, Scotland (Peart). Given that no-one on that side of the family comes from Scotland, etc, I agree with you; but it does not instill confidence when using their website! Regards Rachel

Hi Rachel I looked for Beatrice's birth in Scotland in 1892 and there is no sign of it. On the census her place of birth is shown as Liverpool. I think it might be an error on the LDS site. Margaret

Hi, Thank you for finding the information about Florence. I know that in 1883 Florence was using the surname of Moody when she married William Peart. In 1907, Florence married Patrick Rooney, but used the surname of Seymour. I am a little confused as to why Florence used the surname of Seymour when she married Patrick Rooney; because as far as I can make out, she never married William Seymour. I would love to get to the records office; however, I live in Devon; and these ancestors which I am researching, live in Liverpool. So, unless any of this information is available on-line, its hard for me to research it. Regards Rachel

Rachel found the following on Lancsbmd - don't know if any are relevant. 1908 Friarmere St Thomas, Oldham Florence MOODY or SHAW to Walter Bailey 1911 - St Margaret, Walton, Lpool Florence PEART to William G Graham 1916 - St John, Manchester Florence MOODY to Joseph Marshall I would look at the Parish registers to see what is recorded on baptism, and also to rule out any/all of the above marriages. Hi, Its the Peart/Seymour family (again) who lived in West Derby, Liverpool. According to LDS website, Eveline Peart was born IGI states birth 11.06.1886 and christened in St Peter's church, Liverpool on 23.06.1886. Likewise, LDS states Lucy Peart's birth 09.01.1888 and christening (same church) as 23.01.1888 For Florence Peart, there is no record of her birth, but her christening took place (same church) on 01.12.1890 For Beatrice Peart, there is a birth (in Scotland!) and a christening (same church as rest of family) on 04.10.1892 For Emma Peart, there is no birth, but christening (same church) on 01.12.1890 For Lilian Peart, there is no birth, but christening (same church) on 30.07.1894. There are 2 younger brothers, William James b1894 and Joseph b1900. I believe William James' surname when his birth was registered was Peart, but Joseph's surname was Seymour. I am trying to find out if Joseph has the same father as the rest of the family. The children's mother Florence Moody married in 1883 to William Peart - this marriage is not on there neither. Then in 1907, Florence used the surname of Seymour when she married Patrick Rooney - but again, this information is not on there. I am trying to find out if Florence's marriage to William Peart was her 1st or 2nd one; as well as trying to find out if she married William Seymour and when William Peart died. I know William James married in 1916 to Bertha Elizabeth Jacobsen - his surname has changed to Seymour. This marriage is not recorded on LDS. Any help/suggestions are welcome as always! Regards Rachel

Hi, Have been searching on the LDS website for details of some of my ancestors (christening, births, marriages etc); however, only some of the christenings and births are on there, but others in the same family aren't on there; and some of the marriages which I know took place aren't on there. Am I doing something wrong? Look forward to your replies. Rachel
