Unfortunately, the fact that Owen is not 'deceased' on the marriage cert is not a guarantee that he wasn't...................a lot depended on how the registrar asked the bride and groom the various questions. If he just said ' what is your father's name?' the name could just have been given, without any thought as to his mortality. Obviously, in most cases, the fact that he isn't 'deceased' is fine, but you just have to allow for the odd occasion when the info wasn't asked for in a detailed way......... Clearly, your first move has to be to find William in 1901............but the fact that he was married in Birmingham and was living there in 1919, does not mean he was born there........... Reg

on other marriage certs that i have it usually says if the father was deceased but it dosnt on williams what guidence can you give me reg to follow the family back all i have is the marriage cert with williams age and his fathers name many thanks reg bacardi xxx

I didn't think marriage certs gave the father's age.................and unless he was a witness, what proof have you that he was alive? And unless you have William on a census, I'm not sure how you know where he was born, as you obviously haven't found his birth registration...... Reg

the witnesees were sennetts which was williams wifes maiden name rose sennett and thomas sennett only have the census info as a guied line realy stuck bacardi xxx

owen born 1867 was alive when william married in 1919 address were william was living was 1/10 florence street not sure what district that in but somewere in b,ham and william married at st thomases church birmingham bacardi xx

So you have no way of proving that the Owen on 1871/1881 is actually the father of the William whose marriage cert you have? Or do I misunderstand you? Who are the witnesses to the marriage? Where and when did it take place? Reg

found him on 1871-81 with his parents and siblings but not with his son william or a wife or anymore children his parents were owen jones born 1831 and mary jones(barton) born 1833 bacardi xx
