Can someone please look up Charlotte Merritt in the 1861, 1871 & 1891 census' please? She was born in either 1826 or 1829 in Newington, Surrey and her husband is John Merritt. Thank you Maria |

Maria W ...................... we assume that because there has been NO response to say thank you on this thread, even though Maria has been 'seen' around on the boards, that she is not interested. The thread has been nudged so it would be near the top, and thus seen by her. Although this is somewhat unnecessary as one can always click on Your Replies and it will take you directly to any threads you have started or on which you have posted. So one can always find one's threads. It is considered only courteous to a) stay around for a while after posting a query ................. it is surprising how soon a response can be made, and b) to return to check the thread at regular intervals. There are people on these boards at all times of the day and night ............. members are not only from the UK but from Canada (like myself), Australia, etc. Those of us who have spent precious time and often money (yes, the searches don't all come free) looking up families for others DO LIKE TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED. There are two possible end results of non-acknowledgement like Maria N has been showing. First, those who have been caught once by her will no longer be willing to help her. Second, after too many of this type of things, 'helpers' just give up and stop. Many of them no longer work on their trees on here (I do very little on my own tree here) but stay just because they like to help others ................. why pay the membership fee to be treated like this? Maria W ........... I know you do! I have seen you do that, so please don't think any of this is aimed at you. I was attempting to explain why Glitter was so fed up. We have no idea who is logged on here or who is not, there is no way to know that ............... it is only when someone posts on a thread that you know they are present. So when we say we have seen Maria N, it means we have seen a posting by her at a certain time ....... when she could quite easily have looked on here. I think frustration is the word that is creeping in here! |
