Find Ancestors

Please try to help!! Thomas Gordon Wolstencroft born Penge 1880, married my ggranny March 1909...then she remarried in june1910..I have certificates for this!! So where did Thomas Gordon Wolstencroft go?? I have a lead that he was on a passanger list from Paris to New York on 2/11/1953 and go on that flight!! he would have been 73, his brother Cuthbert went to New Zealand, could anyone find him for me in Ancestry.com as I dont have world membership...or is it not late enough in years to find yet?? Her Name was Kate jane Pogson then married and became Kae wolstencroft then remarried and became williams

Did you actually find her second marriage on BMD? I cannot see it in the name of Wolstencroft

No We had to find it on ancestry and it took about a week as its wrongly registered under two diffierent numbers on ancestry and we had to ring the office to sort out why it was wrong....so its under 2 numbers and its also missing an entry on the BMD her name is missing!!! very difficult to find

Theres a marriage listed in June qtr 1910 as Kate WOLSONCROFT not WOLSTENCROFT southwark 1d 196. Are you sure this is the same person? Shirley

so what did she put as her marital status on the marriage cert

yes thats the one and I have the certificate and thier childrens birth certificates

we dont know yet coz its taken us 3weeks to get the last certificate coz of the confusion over the numbers and what is on the certificate for the spelling of the last name

I guess you have to wait then till the cert arrives to see how kate descrbed herself. Its poss i suppose that they just separated and went their way, and she took a chance and remarried .

no I don t think she took her chances coz on her childrens birth certificate she has herself as Kate Jane williams late wolstoncroft formerly Pogson...so she declaired it there

I had a look tho for a death ref for the first hubby between the marrige dates and there wasnt anything listed

Yes I know Shirley I,ve done the same ...but I was hopeing that I could get someone with a world membership to Ancestry .com to look for a death certificate in the U.S after 1953 when he got on the plane to see if I could get a match

I want to Thank everyone so much for your help and time in this matter .....I,ve been working on this for about 8weeks!! trying to get the certificates and ringing the offices because of the wrong numbers against the marriages and lack of name in one I,m still trying to get the certificate for the second marriage as a kind lady at the office said she could only answer 'yes' and 'no ' to my questions ........I will get to the bottom of this but it seems it will kill me!!!!!!

Hi well I gave you the GRO ref for the one in 1910 as Wolsoncroft so you can order that from the GRO. if you havent already ordered it

Yep Shirley but when the order got there on March 3rd the name of the hubby was wrong so they didnt send it .......the hubby is down as william George williams but the look up says henry james williams ....which we can only think is the other marriage on that page!!!!! and I did the spelling wolstoncroft coz thats the way on the first one and the childrens birth certificates!!!! and so some of it was me and some the wrong numbers trying to cross match!!! on the way now should be here........
