Hello, I am searching for information on John Dixon Richardson, born Whitehaven Cumbria in 1815. He is my husband's great grandfather. His son William Tiffin Richardson and wife Sarah Graham migrated to Australia in the 1880s. Any information would be appreciated. Regards Carolyn Chalmers Canberra Australia

Hi Carolyn,

I think your husband's tree may be distantly related to my husband's.

The following info. was received from another member and I hope you find it useful. I have condensed it slightly (but it's not in date order).

1. Tiffin Richardson married Ruth Cass on 16 Jun 1832 at Brigham, Cumberland, England.

2. Tiffin Richardson born 18 Feb 1807, christened 8 April 1807. Father: Tiffin Richardson

3. Tiffin Richardson married Ann Younghusband 11 Sept. 1800 at Lamplugh in Cumberland.

4. Tiffin Richardson christened 7 Aug. 1750 at Loweswater Cumberland. Father: Jonathon Richardson.

5. Tiffin Richardson christened 3 Jan. 1769 at Loweswater, Cumberland. Father: Joseph Richardson.

6. Tiffin Richardson born about 1772 at Dean, Cumberland. Spouse Mrs. Ann Richardson.

7. Tyffin Richardson christened 22 Sept. 1793 at Saint Michael, Workington, Cumberland. Father: John Richardson. Mother: Susanna.

I hope this helps in your search. Certainly, I've never heard of the forename Tiffin before, so I'm fairly sure there is a connection. Fingers crossed I got the information right!
