Seeking any connection with the ROYAL MUNSTER FUSILIERS.Circa 1848? The BROWN surname may have a connection also with J.T.BRINKLEY or a second Christian name of LEIGHT. GEORGE LEIGHT BROWN was a Sgt Major with the regiment, possibly the 3rd battalion, originally the South Cork Light Infantry based at Tralee. A JOHN LEIGHT BROWN was born there in 1882,father as above, who appears to have later changed his name to John FRANKLIN Brown. The Brown MAY have been bogus as a result of illegitimacy or illicit joining of the regiment! |
