Trying to find Flynn

I'm trying to find any information on a John Flynn (yes I know there are a lot of them out there <g>. He was my great grandfather (on my mothers side). According to family gossip he was thought to have travelled to Broughty Ferry/Dundee in Scotland from Ireland, although I can't verify this as yet until I can get more info. If he did then he probably would have travelled from here in Ireland around the late 1890's. Unfortunately I have no living older relations to ask or any paperwork to use as a starting point, hence my trying this. He married my Gr Grandmother (Grace) and had six children. John and Grace's marriage would have been circa 1900's, probably taking place in around the Broughty Ferry area, near Dundee in Scotland. All their children would have been born in the same area from that time onwards. - Grace who married Allan Donaldson (both deceased) and lived on the Black Isle, had a son called Allan. - Joan who married Tom Galbraith (both deceased) and had a son called Tom (now deceased) and a daughter called Joan. - Jim who married twice, lived and died in Poole, Dorset. - Jack who married Wyn in later life, lived and died in Taunton, Somerset. - Margaret (my grandmother, deceased). She married George Dickson (my grandfather, who died in Burma in WWII) and gave birth to my mother in 1941. Later married John Gray and had one son (John, known as Ian) and another daughter (Diane). - William (known as Bill), now deceased. Who married and had one son (Andrew known as Andy living in Somerset) and two daughters Beverly and Belinda who also live in Somerset. My mother, born 1941, (their grand daughter, also called Grace...just to confuse the issue <g>) spent some of her younger childhood living with Grace, her grandmother. Although by this time John was dead. This was in the 1940's. They lived by the edge of the River Tay (?called Sixteenth street), near the life boat station. Also living with my mother and my Gr grandmother was William (John and Grace Flynns youngest son) who has always been known as Bill. He was only a few years older than my mother so was born in around the 1930's. I'm giving all this trivia/info in the hope somebody reading this will know or remember the family, around that time when they lived there. This is in the hope they can give me a date of a birth, marriage, death that I can use as a first step in getting proper records. I know this is a long shot however I'm an optimist <bg> and I'd love to find what long lost relatives I may have here in Ireland by researching Johns family tree. So if you have any info, no matter how slight it might be, please feel free to get in touch with me at [email protected]
