My grandmother was Sarah Baines (nee Jones)1880 to 1948 who married John William Baines in 1901. John William Baines died in 1921 and she later married a Thomas Smart. Sarah and John William had the following children: John William 17/02/1902 Sarah Elizabeth 08/06/1904 (my mother) Frederick Thomas 09/12/1906 Violet Lily 26/12/1910 Lilian Rose 17/10/1912 Rose 10/04/1915 (who died as a baby) Dorothy May 23/01/1918 The family lived at 162 Manor Place, Walworth for a number of years. In 1881 Sarah Jones aged 8 months was living at 5 Garden Row, Southwark with her father Thomas (47), mother Elizabeth (43), brother Charles (19), brother Thomas (13), brother Alfred (11), sister Eliza (9), brother William (5), and sister Maria (3). I know that Maria married a Thomas Brookbank around 1899/1900 and during WWII owned a shop at 388 Wandsworth Road, Clapham. Would like any information on any of the other brothers and sister. |
