I've been trying for weeks to find something else about my G Grandmother other than the fact that she was born in Malta and married my G Grandfather. So I would be most appreciative if some kind person who has access to the 1861 and/or 1871 census would do a look up for me re the following family. William Weir, was with the Royal Artillery, & may still be, as of 1851. ? Weir, Wife. Elizabeth S Weir. Dau. Born 1844 Malta Ann Ellen Weir. Dau. Born 1846 Malta. And probably David Weir, son, born 1849-50 in Malta. I'm not sure when they returned to live in England, but believe they settled in the London area, altho' I'm not sure of that. Hope someone can help me. Diana.

My husband is related to your Weir. His great granddad, Jesse Jones, was married to Anne Ellen Weir born 20/07/1846 died 23/04/1923. She & most of her siblings (there were 6 children incl her) were born in Malta whilst their father William Charles Weir (or could be Charles William, as I understand his discharge papers say Charles) was stationed out there with the Royal Artilary. He believe he came from Manchester he married Elizabeth S (No surname known yet) His father was married to Nancy? & they had at least 4 children including William (Charles).

Anne & Jesse had 8 children uncluding my husband's granddad - George Weir Jones (obviously named after Ann's maiden name). He died on the railways where he was a train driver in 1909 when my father in law was 7 mths old.

Do you have any further ionfo re the Weir's?
