Trying to find out info relating to a Hannah M Aveyard probably of Hunslet Leeds c 1850. She married Abel Batty in 1874 at St Mary the Virgin Middleton Leeds. I believe that they had at least two children - Thomas and Sarah Ann Batty. Abel remarried in 1879 taking his children with him ,so I presume that Hannah had died. Any info no matter how small would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Samantha. I am not connected but had a look for you.

You will need a copy of the marriage certificate for Hannah and Abel to confirm her Father's name as there seems to be two Hannah's. Hannah Mary and Hannah Maria.

Marriage of Hannah Mary Aveyard to Abel. 1874. July/Sept. Qtr. reg in Hunslet. Leeds. vol 9b 414.

If her Father was Solomon. then the following details will apply.
The difficulty here is the year of birth.

The death index shows a Hannah Mary died 1878 July/Sept. Qtr. reg in Hunslet.
vol 9b 26. and shows her as 24.
this would bring her back to Birth 1854 or there about.

I can find a Hannah Maria born 1857 July/Sept. Qtr. reg in Hunslet. vol 9b 191

and a
Hannah Mary 1846. April/June Qtr. reg in Hunslet. vol 23. 378.

I favour the second one, but this needs checking.

If second one is correct then the age was given wrongly on the death certificate.

1851 census.
Living Gildersome area,Batley/Hunslet.
Solomon. 34. Coal Miner. Born Yorks
Diane 33.Born Gilbersome Nr Leeds and Batley
Thomas. 15.
George. 11
William 9
Walter 8
Hannah M. 4 all born Gilbersome.
The writing was very difficult on this census sheet but think that this is correct.

1861 Gilbersome.
Solomon. 46. Grocer and Farmer Born West Ardsley.
DINAH 43. Born Gilbersome
Thomas. 25. Coal Miner
Walter. 18. Coal Miner
Hannah Mary 15.
Solomon. 5. all born Gilbersome.

I think your first move is the marriage certificate, as that will give the Father and if not Solomon then we need to go back to square one. Ethel.
