Meers. I've hit a real brick wall so far I've got back as far as one James Meers marrying Sarah Twomlow in 1814 in st phillips, B'ham, presumably with a shot gun in his back as Edmund Meers was born rather prematurely. I am unable to go back any farther as the trail runs completely cold. I do know that he was a jeweller/silver smith. was born C. 1788 and died aged 34 c 1822 and was buried in St mary's b'ham along with an infant son and at least two other children. It seems Edmund was the only child to survive from that union. There is also record of possibly a daughter who died aged at about 11 years in 1829. Sarah remarried approx 2 years lafter James' death in 1824 and became jones. Edmund Meers had 6 sons my line of desendancy comes down from James Meers born c 1842, he had 5 other brothers, John c. 1850, William c. 1855, Charles c 1857, Henry c 1860 and Alfred 1861. Do any of these names ring any bells I always thought that my maiden name was extremely unusual - that is until I started tracing my dads family |
