My grandmothers family lived around the Writtle area of Essex. Her name was Edith louisa. Any help with relatives would be appreciated.

Wendy, my ggrandmother Florence Elizabeth Horsnell was born Abt 1854 in Essex. Her father was Charles Horsnell. All I know is that Florence came out to Australia.
Probably doesn't help you though.
Liz.

Wendy...
I have Horsnells in Writtle, but a lot earlier probably than your grandmother's family.
Do you know any more about names/marriages/dates? you can email me if you prefer.

By the way, I found that originally the name was spelt Horsnail and the family were blacksmiths! Not sure if that is a coincidence or a derivation of the name!
