Find Ancestors

Hi,my name is JO BAGLEY I'm new to this site and also the world of FAMILY TREES, I wonder if there is anyone out there who would be kind enough to try to help me. I'm trying to find out information about my birth mothers' parents. I have very little to go on. I know that their names were DOUGLAS and that they lived in the NEWCASTLE AREA. It was said that HILDAS' MOTHER died giving birth to her sister. My mother (HILDA) was then taken care of by an AUNT (NAME UNKNOWN) until she was seven years old. Her FATHER who was in the NAVY died. My MOTHER was put into a DR. BARNARDO CHILDRENS HOME. She then went into DOMESTIC SERVICE. She later lied about her age to enable her to join the ARMY. She met and married my FATHER who was also in the ARMY. They were married and stationed at BARNARD CASTLE. My MOTHER often mentioned DURHAM and GATESHEAD but my sister seems to think that my MOTHER was born in HEATON. We never knew any of her other FAMILY MEMBERS that is if she had any at all, for she never spoke of any. MOTHER'S NAME MATILDA HILDA EDITH DOUGLAS DOB 03/12/1920 BORN Heaton GATESHEAD DURHAM area.
