Trying to find Lepine

Hi, Karen -
My family had a similar story.
Our ancestor was Stephen Lepine, who had a daughter Mary Anne in 1834. She married my grandfather's grandfather, William Terry Dane.
There was even talk of a court case (in the 1920s?) to recover the family fortune, but they ran out of money to pursue it.

Story told to me by my mother, who's own morther's maiden name was Lepine, was that our origin's are from France's aristocracy and were in danger of madame guillotine. George Lepine is said to have escpaed to Britain and settled, carrying on the family name. Does anybody have any further information from around the french revolution or thereafter. My grandmother's name was Lilly, born in London in 1900 and her sisters were Margarette, May and Beatrice. In the late 60's all four sisters moved with their partners to the Isle of wight. My grandmother died in 1969 and great aunt Marg in 1986, both are buried on the island. Great aunt Beat and I think Great aunt May returned to the mainlaind, but have no further information.
