I am startng to research my family again and have some leads. I believe the name has scottish connections with McBraire or McBrayer, from Dumfries area. The name appears to have been anglicised after the two Jacobite rebellions and the family appear to have been (or chose to) relocated in East Anglia. Seems likely would have worked on the draining of the fens. But by 1825, an ancestor is fixed in Thame. My grandfather was one of three london brothers in 1900. Can anyone add to this or give me other leads. |
