George ALDRIDGE born 1890 - Do you have this ancestor in your family tree but have hit a brick wall & cannot trace a birth cerificate? This is because he was actually born George CHATT in Farnham, but listed as an Aldridge in 1901 census in Aldershot with step father John Aldridge (soldier in Royal Horse Artillery) & mother Emma, siblings Alfred, Elijah, (both also born Chatts) John Edward & Emily. Alfred reverted back to the surname Chatt on his marriage, but believe George may well have carried on using the surname Aldridge as he is listed as a witness on the marriage certificate under this name. I would love to hear from anyone who has any connection with any of the above. Roma, Essex. UK |
