Hello there, I am researching my McGibbons from Islay. The particular family of McGibbons I am interested in are the family and descendants of Hector Mcgibbon(abt. 1770-abt. 1840) Hector was a Wollen Weaver and married a Janet Blue(1782-abt. 1850) on the 8 June 1797, at Campbeltown, Argyll. They had a family of 7 children. The children's names were, in order of birth, Andrew, Mary, Catherine, Doug., Neil,Margaret, and Ann(Nancy). Margaret was a gg grandmother of mine. She married a Duncan Fullarton/Fullerton in on the 26 June, 1836 at Kildalton parish, Islay. Duncan was a Fisherman. Their children's names were John, Jessie, Duncan, Christina, Dugald, Donald, and Margaret. Jessie Fullarton(1839-1880)was my g grandmother. She in turn married a Donald Campbell, (1835-1914),a Boilermaker, who was also from Islay. They lived in Govan, Glasgow after their marriage. If anyone is researching Mcgibbons from Islay from around this period I would love to hear from you. Grant Muckart Nairn Scotland |
