Trying to find Brown

I am trying to trace my husband's family. My husband's name is William James Brown and he was born 23/08/1937 at Chapelhill Peebles. His father James (b18/03/1909 d07/02/1989) and mother Jane Jeffrey Gowan (b 01/06/1914 d 15?/01/1980) were married 21/07/1936 at Peebles. James' father was David Brown and mother was Margaret Dempster and they were living in Connor Street Peebles in 1936 when James got married. James never kept contact with his family but we think there were other siblings (at least one brother David). James was a farm labourer at the time of his son's birth. He also worked on various farms as a mole trapper, rabbit trapper, lobster fisherman, shepherd in Coalburn, Lesmahagow, Tobermorey and Coll (1937-1952) and worked in Islay 1952-1953/4. James and Jane moved to Barrhead around 1954 and lived there until they both died. Jane was born in Lauder, her father was Robert James Gowan and married Margaret Campbell 14/08/1911. Jane had two brothers that we know of, John and Bert, there might be more. If anyone has any information on James and Jane's siblings and parents we would be delighted to hear from them..
