Hello, I'm trying to find information on my Great Grandfather, Owen Demspey. Information held is limited - born Southern Ireland around 1880/1890, married Annie Cullen (from same area) and had 4 children-Rose, John, Maggie and Annie. Owen was a coal merchant. My gran, Rose, was born in Glasgow around 1910 and had to return to Ireland when the potato famine happened. She then returned to Glasgow. If anyone has info. it'd be much appreciated.

Hello Deborah,
This is probably nothing to do with your Owen but it is worth a try. My Grandfather was an Owen Dempsey born sometime around 1876. The first I have him is marring my Grandmother in Greenwich London 1918. As far as the family story goes he was supposed to have been born in Ireland. He was a deserter from WW1 when he met & married her & had my father. He was a farrier. That is all I have been able to find out about him. He is not on any of the available census that I can find. When my Grandmother died in 1921 he disappears leaving my father as a baby.
On their marriage certificate he says his father's name was Richard Henry Dempsey. As I said maybe nothing to do with you but you never know.
