shevill, shevel, shevills and thanotations are very common in the north east.

my john shevil came down from durham in mid1800'sand married a leeds lass, most of the shevill family remaining in leeds are decended from that same man.although it is believed he travelled down with a brother james benjamin

would your stephen be a slater perchance!

do you know any other of his relatives?

thanks

Does anyone have information on Stephen Shevill who we suspect changed his name to Sheville? He was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne in England (we think) in the 1880s or 1890s. Cheers Kathleen
