Hi my name is Jenny Hooper and I'm trying to build a family tree on my Mother's Father's side, and the only information I have is meagre. Her maiden name was Zillah Thompson. her mothers name was Lizzie her father William. His Father James. Supposedly they lived in Forfar Scotland. The spelling of their surname could have been changed when William jumped ship (merchant navy) in New Zealand shortly before the first World War. He joined up with the NZ Army and served overseas returning here in July 1920 married to Lizzie (Lees)They lived at 200 Chapel Street Masterton New Zealand My Mum spoke of a cousin (Willy) Bill & Kathy Thomson who lived at 31 Swanston Gardens, Fairmilehead Edinborough. If anyone out there has any relevant information I would be very grateful as this part of my tree I've been unable to continue with .
