Hi Deborah.
Do you have any connection with Tan Hiok Nee ?
Tan Hiok Nee was Major China to the Sultan of Johore
before leaving for Singapore where he was to become a very influencial person. Tan Hiok Nee was my wifes great great great grandfather. If I am not mistaken he had connections with or had been in Penang at some point in time. Do you have any relatives with the name of Tan in Singapore ? There is a publication by Jeremy Palmer, who also married a Tan ( my wifes cousin ) in Singapore. The publication is called The Life and Times of Tan Yeok Nee 1827 - 1902. The house of Tan Yeok Nee is a national historical site in Singapore. There is also a house in China ( now in a sad state of repair ) which is preserved as a national monument.

Anyway hope this might help.

Regards,

Tony Paine

Deborah Susan Tan I am trying to find anyone who might be related, I know our family are dotted around the world. My father(Robert, Kim San) had 10 brothers and sisters. He was born in Penang, Malysia in 1939. He came to England with the RAF, where he met my mother and they married. They lived in Singapore for a while, where I was born. We returned to England in 1965.
