Can anyone help? Looking for Poldens from Poole Dorset And Osmotherly from All Hallowes Having looked on the 1901 census, I have discovered that my grandfather, Stanley Polden was living in Charlton at age 9 years. Clarence was then 17 (born in Southampton) aslo living in Inverine Road, Charlton with that family and is listed as a son. However, Clarence' was registered at Southampton to Thomas and Caroline Polden; Clarence became a soldier then a Policeman married to Margate Buston, I am told she owned a boarding house in Whitstable area. Thomas and Daniel came from Poole in Dorset, their father was John. They had other siblings, Fanny, Matilda, William (who was a policeman and married Jemima Hayes, daughter Ada. Daniel an electrical engineer, my great grandfather, married Annie Osmotherly (originally from All Hallows in Kent) June quarter 1881 Medway records. They had Stanley Edward and Ethel Gertrude A (born in Charlton) who is aged 2 on 1901 Census Ino idea what happened to her). Thomas was Labourer for the Borough Council. His wife was Caroline Husband, (orig Redruth, Cornwall). Both Thomas and Daniel were in the police force, Thomas in Hamps and Daniel in Kent. He lived at the Police House St. Stephens Green tunbridge details. Then he appears to have married Annie. I have found most of the Osmotherleys now and still want to find the Poldens. I do know that my father, Stanley lived in Charlton, his mother was I believe Ada Elizabeth Johnson, who died when my father was in his teens (I think), was only child as far as I know. Remember visiting someone from Father's family in Silvertown area but cannot remeber name for sure. Could have been Majorie and Shirely or Shelley. Do know that Stanley and Ada married at the Tabernacle in Beresford Street Woolwich |
