Robert JONES, my great-great grandfather, was born in Bangor, North Wales, in 1834. I know from his wedding certificate that his father was Griffith JONES, a tailor. the 1881 census shows a Griffith JONES, tailor, born in 1805 in Garn, Caernarvon, and living in Ynyscynhaiarn, Caernarvon. I cannot find either place on the map, although Garn appears as part of many place names and probably means "cairn". Can anyone help me to locate Garn and/or Ynyscynhaiarn, or even better, do you have Griffith and Robert in your family tree? Pete Jones |
