GEORGE GRENAGE JONES b. c1923 in NOrth Wales, son of Dorris Matty and John Henry, Colwyn Bay, North Wales, joined the merchant navey around 1939. He did his intial training at Graves End. He was on oil tankers during the second world war to Russia and America. It was on a run to America when his ship was bombed and George spent time convalescing from his injuries in the states. Later he was on a ship in India where he then joined the British Army. His rregiment was the Green Howards? He was posted to Burmah. After the was he was posted at Bury St. Edmunds where he was promoted to Sgt. Mgr. He and Christeen moved to london. I believe they met when Christeen (Roberts) worked in my great grandmother's (Dorris Matty) shop in. Colwyn Bay They had 4 children....though it is not certain who they were or where they were born.....does this sound familiar to anyone.....are you one of Geroge and Christeen's children or grandchildren?
