Hi I am looking for Harkins in the Glasgow or surrounding areas. My greatgrandparents were George and Elizabeth Harkins, who came over from Mountcharles (?) Donegal in approximately late 1870/80s. They were married in St Patricks Church, Anderston, Glasgow. They had 3 children - Daniel, John and Jane (known as and called Jeannie). John was my grandfather and he married Mary Brown who was a widow. They had a son George (my father). Daniel I don't know too much about. Jeannie married George Crawford. My gr grandfather George, my grandfather John and my father George all worked in the Glasgow docks. They lived in the Anderston and surrounding areas. I know from research that there were a lot of Harkins in this area at the time.

Hi Isobel!
My great grandfather was Samuel Harkin who was I believe born in Donegal. He was maried to Sarah Kane, about whom I have no more information. Their offspring were;
James born in 1873 in Duntocher, Dunbartonshire, & Mary born in 1879. Same place.
Not easy finding these long dead rellies is it? I'm clutching at straws again!
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards
Ann
