Trying to find info on my grandfather Andrew Hunter Smith born 23-04-1923 in Glasgow. He married my grandmother Isabella Mckenna Miller Mcneil 01-12-1944 and my mother was born 07-09-1945, her name was Wiiliamina Mcneil Smith. In 1954 they all moved to Barnsley and my grandfather worked in Bentley Colliery. A few years later my grandparents split up and gran moved back to Glasgow but my mother stayed with her father. She worked in Doncaster market on an ice cream van next to Woolworths and later in a place called Pecks( i don`t know the correct spelling), until she decided to come back to Glasgow around 1962. My grandfather stayed in Scawthorpe near Doncaster and in 1972 a message was written in News of World for any info regarding my mother and grandmother to inform of my grandfathers death. There next door neighbours were known as Lennox and the sons name was Wilson.Do these names mean anything to you? If so please contact me. I am looking for help in finding my grandfathers death certificate. He was cremated in Barnsley and has been laid to rest in Barnsley Rose Garden. Please Help Regards Caroline |
