Iris Thompson I am trying to trace the first marriage of my great grandfather JAMES BROWN. James was baptised in 1837 in Porlock, Somerset, UK. He was the baseborn son of Ann Brown whose parents were William and Ann. James married my great grandmother, Emma Elizabeth Cowley, in Bristol in 1866 and their marriage certificate shows James was a widower. I suspect that James first married in Somerset but I have been unable to prove this. Can anyone help, please? |
