Charles Henry Smith had died by the time his son Ernest Charles Smith, aged 21, married Elizabeth Wiggins in London in 1922 ( when Charles Henry was described as a housepainter ). It is said that Ernest was sent to live with relatives on Hayling Island, Hampshire where it is believed he attended a St Patrick's school (circa 1905-1911). Does this ring a bell with anybody, if so I look forward to hearing from you. |
