Trying to find Clarke

Many years ago my uncle traced our Clarke family tree back to Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland, circa 1860. The family name then was Doran. My father's name was Jack Clarke, born in Manchester in 1922. His parents (my grandparents) were John and Esther Clarke, also from Manchester. My great-grandparents were John and Mary Clarke. The areas of Manchester were Stalybridge and Ashton-under-Lyne. We think that it was the generation before John and Mary that came over to England from Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland. This is where the crossover from Doran/Clarke seems to have occured; my other great-grandparents were John and Minnie Gertrude Doran (nee Leake) from Warrenpoint. We believe that another section of the family emigrated to Argentina. The family names of John/Jack, William, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Anne and Esther (my middle name) have passed on from each generation and will into the next. I would love to find out more about the Doran/Clarke connection. Many Thanks. |
