I am trying to find details of my mothers parents,she was born Lily Ruby Smith,on 29th June,1911,but was known to most peoply as Ruby. She married my dad Walter Greaves in 1936,and had my brother Brian,in 1937,myself in November 1942,and my brother David in January 1953. Her parents were Edgar Earnest Smith,and Kate Eliza Smith formerly Attwood.She was born at home 1 Lime Tree cottages,Malthouse Lane,Saltley. She was one of 5 children,Nelly,Elsie,Evelyn,& Earnest.When she married she lived at 18 Foxton Road,Alum Rock, for a short time with my dads uncle Edward Ganderton,who was a stained glass window designer and 1 of his windows is still visible at Castle Bromwich Church. They then moved to Bennetts Road,Saltley and remained there until they passed away.I hope someone remembers her,she was a very brave and lovely lady. Barbara Parkin, |
