Find Ancestors

I am looking for any relatives of my father John (Jinks) Smith. He was born on 17/01/1927 in Portpatrick, Scotland. His mothers name was Helen Hunter Smith and his father is unknown. He had an older brother Alexander I think, who died in 1940's or 50's, sorry I don't know all that much about him. He married my mum Betty Wallace on 27/11/1953 in Glenluce and they lived there until they died, my dad in 1997 and my mum in 2001. They had 5 children Sandy, Ian, Brian, David and myself. I remember hearing about my dads Auntie Joanne who lived in Portpatrick (although I think she might have been his cousin). Dad worked on the fishing boats out of Portpatrick from about the age of 13, he used to fish up about Iceland if I remember the stories correctly! He also worked as a linesman around 1966 and was a lorry driver working for Moodies and Woodside. He was a member of Portpatrick lifeboat crew who attended the Princess Victoria ferry disaster in the Irish Sea 1950's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Janet I have managed to find out a bit more about my dads family. Dads brother Alexander died in 1943 aged 27, he was single and had no children as far as I know. My grandmother Helen Hunter Smith was born in 1896 and had 9 brothers and sisters. JOHN BORN 1884 DIED 1899 DAVID BORN 1888 JAMES BORN 1889 ALEXANDER BORN 1893 JANE BORN 1886 MAGGIE BORN 1891 MATILDA BORN 1892 ELIZABETH BORN 1895 VIOLET BORN 1897 Dads grandparents were John Smith (1864) and Mary Campbell(c1864). John Smith had at least 2 sisters Matilda(1875) and Violet(1871) I am still working on this bit! I remember a lady from Florida contacting mum after dad had died and she was my dads 2nd cousin, her name was Mary Grieco, don't know her maiden name! I am trying to find any letters she may have sent mum and will update if I find anything. Would appreciate any info on any decendants of the above people! Thanks Janet
