Hi Veronica,
It appears that your TONKINS moved about.Ernest snr. was born at Kapunda S.A. according to the Vic. index. He married Susan Ella BLACKMORE in 1888 reg.no.4190 I think at Ballarat as their children were born at Ballarat East . Susan BLACKMORE was born at Talisker near Yankalilla S.A. on 3/4/1869 her parents were William and Johanna (CALLOWAY) REG.NO.73/595.

Their children that I have found are :-
Reynold Ernest reg.no.1890/9409
Marcus Paul reg.no.1891/8898
Ruby Pearl reg.no.1892/10063
Ruth Robina reg.no.1894/588
Ernest reg.no.1895/726
Clarice Ella reg.no.1897/25519
Reginald reg.no.1900/16249
Arthur William reg.no.1902/595

These children were listed as being born at Ballarat East.
I am not sure of Ernest's parents as there was several Ernests born in S.A. about the same time.

trying to find out more information on a fair few tonkin's (there seems to be a hole bunch in my family). 1. Susan ria tonkin married ernest tonkin 21/4/1888. their children: peynold born 23/3/1890 died 12/6/1890 marcus paul born 23/3/1891 residing in Queensland, Australia. married Pallis they had 8 girls and 1 boy. Ruby pearl born 5/4/1892 and died in 16/1/1893. Ruth rubian or ruban born 16/11/1893 residing in Queensland, Australia. married to herbert anderson. they had four kids. herbert anderson is now dead (not sure of date though). Ernest tonkin born 14/2/1895. residing in south yarra, victoria, australia. married to ellea cameron. they had 7 kids, 6 girls and 1 boy. clarice ella tonkin born 1/9/1897. arthur 7/2/1902 died 6/2/1905. thomas rowe tonkin married margret johns on 28/5/1853. thomas rowe tonkin son of the above born 23/4/1854 died 29/8/1890 aged 36 and 6 months. margret jane born 21/11/1856, daughter of thomas and margret tonkin. richard born 21/2/1859 mary-ann or mary ann born 20/8/1861 hedley tonkin born 25/2/1864 died 26/11/1913 aged 49. madeline born 30/11/1866 died 26/11/1867. ernest born 1/7/1868 ruth born 12/2/1871 died 4/10/1908 aged 37 and 8 months. thomas rowe tonkin died 15/5/1873 aged 42. margret hick (not sure if this is her remarried name after tonkin). year 1966 ernest tonkin son of susan and ernest tonkin 1895 to 1977 aged 82. if any one has any information i would love to hear from you thanks again for your help
