COOK(E) Bob Cooke (26/07/2005 14:23:08) THOMAS COOK(E)*(c1770-1800) a Coachman, looking for everything, date and place of birth... father of the next Thomas Cook(e)** (c1823 Looking for a confirmed Loughborough birth and place date as given in 1871census) a butcher(earliest find 1841 census as apprentice butcher in Matlock Derbyshire with a Taylor family),married Eleanor Stoppard in 1846 and was father of twins Aaron & Thomas Cooke*** 1846, David 1850, Betsy Eleanor 1854, Arthur 1857 & Robert 1861). This Thomas** and his twin sons were Omnibus proprietor and drivers respectively (census 1871), were Cab proprietors whilst living at 64 Granby Street, Leicester. The(1823)Thomas** died from cirhosis of the liver in 1875. It seems his son (1846)Thomas*** died of smallpox in the Leicester epidemic of 1871/2 1871/2......................................................... Going forward and laterally ..................................................................... I have the 1857 Arthur Cooke, at Union Street, Plymouth in 1891, Pawnbrokers employee, married to Ada Annie Houger and as a widower at only 32 yrs old, two daughters Lilian & Ethel at 6 & 7 yrs old............................The 1861 Robert Cooke journeyman/butcher, the youngest the above group moved through London, married Ann Baker 1882 in Lambeth, to Portsmouth where he traded as a butcher his sons (all served in WW1), Leslie, Thomas, Courtney, Dudley (Died in India), , daughters, Dolly & Florence Hilda.
